Amena is a software engineer based out of Canada, recently graduating from the University of Waterloo with a BASc in Biomedical Engineering and a specialization in AI. Her goals with Ma’rifa are to work with, learn from and create opportunities for other Shia youth.

Amena’s involvement in her community has enabled her to grow in her religion and connect with her Shia identity, most recently through her involvement with religious groups on campus, her role as a youth leader in her local community center and previously serving as an engineering director at ABSA Network. Although she physically resides in Waterloo, Canada, she feels at home whenever surrounded by others who love giving back.
